Native English Editors and Proofreaders
We are looking for freelance Native English Editors and Proofreaders specialising in English as a second language (ESL).
We are currently seeking editors with experience preparing manuscripts for SCI publications specialising in the following areas:
- Medical Sciences
- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Computer Science
- Materials Science
- Engineering and Technology
- Business and Economics
The main responsibilities include:
Correcting academic scripts for spelling, punctuation and grammar in UK and US English for clients with ESL.
Ensuring that text is concise and consistent.
Ensuring that copy is easy to read and that concepts are structured in a sequential and logical way.
Offering advice on structure in terms of chapters and paragraphs.
Being responsible for your projects, document management (digital filing) and working to strict deadlines.
Candidates will ideally:
Enjoy working with the written word.
Hold a minimum of an M.A. or M.Sc. Working towards a further post-graduate qualification and active research considered a plus.
Have editing and/or proofreading experience.
Have English language testing experience.
Have excellent written communication and time management skills.
Have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Google Docs and be able to work with email attachments. Knowledge of Overleaf and Sharelatex is a plus.
Have a keen eye for detail and be 100% accurate.
