What is the difference between chord and cord?

Chord

Definition: Noun

Examples:

Definition: Verb

  • play, sing, or arrange notes in chords.

Examples:

  1. His chording fits the melody perfectly.

Cord

Definition: Noun

  • thin, flexible string or rope made from several twisted strands.
  • an anatomical structure resembling a length of cord (e.g. the spinal cord, the umbilical cord).
  • an electric flex.
  • ribbed fabric, especially corduroy

Examples:

  1. His hands are tied with cord.
  2. He has damage to his spinal cord.
  3. I ripped the phone cord from the wall.
  4. She wore her favourite purple cords.
